After graduating from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2000, Julian Ohlmaier began his architecture career as a project designer at Michael Folonis AIA & Associates gaining experience in residential projects throughout Venice, Santa Monica and Los Angeles. After a brief time at Frank Gehry Associates, Julian moved on to TFO Architects to work as a project manager with principles William Taylor, Steve Fierce and Richard Orne. While there he managed residential, retail, educational & several master planning projects in the US and in Mexico.
He is currently a Project Engineer for the Architectural Metals Division of CR Laurence in Vernon, California where he has had the opportunity to explore the field of metal fabrication & engineering for architectural projects. Working on projects ranging from facade systems for Brooks + Scarpa & Koning & Eizenberg to NYC MTA projects for DMJM. most recently, he designed and fabricated a large part of his live/work studio in Boyle Heights, California as The Future Primitive.
